Catfish
The Catfish is a scaleless freshwater fish. So-called because of it's cat-like whiskers, the Catfish is a very active fish that must be handled with care. The flesh is almost entirely boneless making it a relatively safe fish to feed youngsters with (albeit with caution please! All fish contain bones and you must check while feeding to infants). It loves muddy waters, but nevertheless, this fish is exceptionally delicious. Next to the Tilapia, the Catfish is one of the most popular fishes for Pepper Soup.
There are many species of catfish with varying sizes. Below is a picture of the Mekong Giant catfish, the largest catfish recorded in history! Caught by fishermen in the Mekong River in northern Thailand on May 1, 2005, this huge catfish measured nine feet long (2.7 meters) and weighed an incredible 646 pounds (293 kilograms). The weight of about 4 slight;y overweight adults!!!
